2007 marked the realization of a dream I have had for several years - to live and work with boats,-wooden boats, and to continue the tradition of building functional, beautiful, well crafted wooden boats, both power and sail, traditional and modern.

My first boat was built to the Nat Herreshoff ''Coquina'' design. She was well received at the 2007 Woodenboat show in Mystic, CT where I met a very enthusiastic crowd – people kept saying ''It is furniture that floats''. I was even featured in Soundings magazine!

As I strive to meet and exceed the quality standards set by each designer whose boats I build or restore and live up to their expectations in materials and craftsmanship, I create a boat that has the look and feel of a Herreshoff or Atkin boat plus my personal artistic expression.

When you choose a Schleiff boat you buy not only a beautiful boat but also the love of my craft that went in to it. Because each boat is built one at a time in a small one man shop, each is unique and customized to fulfill your dreams.
