The double ended Caledonia Yawl interests me because of the Norwegian heritage that Scottish designer Ian Oughtred has captured in this design and modified for glued-lapstrake construction. She offers many possibilities for customization including gaff or lug mainsail, cockpit layout, motor well, and even partially decked versions. Her yawl rig is simple to use yet efficient, and with either the gaff or balanced lug mainsail and sprit boom mizzen, all spars are short and there is no need for standing rigging.
